Who can apply?

The programme is open to both EU and non-EU graduates who wish to build a career in insect science and technology, contributing to the future of biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, biotechnology, ecosystem resilience, and vector control.

Applying students hold a BSc in life sciences, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bio-engineering, biosciences, or related domains that provides access to a Master’s degree programme. This requirement must be fulfilled at the time of enrolment; however, students in the final year of their BSc programme are welcome to apply.

Applicants should possess a solid academic background in biology, mathematics, statistics, microbiology, physics, and general and organic chemistry.

Applicants must provide evidence of English proficiency. All applicants who have not obtained a previous diploma in a programme taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English.
The English proficiency test scores accepted are:
  • TOEFL: We only accept the TOEFL iBT test (including the Home Edition and Paper Edition). The minimum overall score is 79. We do not accept MyBest™ scores.
  • IELTS: We only accept the IELTS Academic test (including the paper, computer and online test). The minimum overall score is 6.5. We do not accept IELTS One Skill Retake™ scores.
  • Cambridge English: We only accept the following tests: Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) (C1) and Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (C2)
  • ITACE for students: We only accept the ITACE C1 or the ITACE C2 certificate. Please be aware that these tests can only be taken in Belgium.

Applicants should be fully aware of the financial costs of the programme and cost of living in hosting countries. While our scholarship policy will allow most of the students to finance the entire studies period, self-funded students who were not awarded a scholarship grant will be required to submit a Guarantee of full financial support (annexed to the Learning Agreement and prior to enrolment). This is to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the entire period of studies. You’ll need to document your source/s of income to apply for a student visa.
